Violet Grohl, the 19-year-old daughter of Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters and Nirvana, just signed an exciting record deal to kickstart her music career and follow in her father's footsteps.
It was announced on Jan. 24 that Violet signed a deal with Republic Records/Island EMI through her own imprint, Auroura Records.
Along with the big news, Violet shared two of her songs, "Thum" and "Applefish," along with their official lyric videos.
She originally shared the songs with fans on social media at the start of December, writing, "I'm beyond excited to finally share a little bit of what i've been working on over the last year. I made these tracks with the most badass group of musicians, so happy they're finally yours:)."
Kristina Grossmann, the SVP of A&R at Republic Records, commented on Violet's deal, saying, via NME, "From the moment we met Violet, it was clear that she represents the next generation of artists. The music is immediate, intentional and her voice holds a rare duality."
"She is unapologetically cool and is a fearless female voice. We couldn't be more excited to help bring her vision and this album to life," Grossmann went on.
Republic's Executive Vice President David Wolter also praised Violet, saying, "Violet brings a rare combination of perspective, artistry, and reverence for the craft. She understands the history of music, but she's also pushing it forward. She is the future."
After signing the exciting record deal, Violet is officially working on her first album.
