Following the departure of fan-favorite drummer Jay Weinberg, Suicidal Tendencies has revealed their newest recruit.

Announced Friday via the band's social media platforms, Xavier "X" Ware will step in as the iconic thrash metal band's new drummer.

Ware has already worked with lead singer Mike Muir on his upcoming solo project and is ready to jump into the mix. His first performance with Suicidal Tendencies will take place at the ShipRocked Cruise Festival, a music festival held aboard a cruise ship. This year will mark the band's third appearance at the event.

Weinberg announced his departure from Suicidal Tendencies in early January after nearly two years with the band. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the former Slipknot drummer explained that his decision was driven by his growing family and desire to focus on solo projects. With Weinberg's exit, Ware now steps into the role.

Alongside Ware, the current Suicidal Tendencies lineup includes vocalist Muir, guitarists Dean Pleasants and Ben Weinman and bassist Tye Trujillo.

Suicidal Tendencies was formed in 1980 by Muir, who remains the only consistent member of the band. Throughout their career, the group has released 14 studio albums, achieving significant commercial success and garnering widespread recognition as crossover thrash pioneers. The band has also made a major cultural impact, including induction into the Skateboard Hall of Fame in 2016 and a Grammy Award nomination.

Ware, 24, has played with several bands throughout his career, most recently serving as a touring drummer for Bilmuri. With a lifelong passion for music, he is excited for this new journey.

"I hope my sound can continue to touch every heart, soul, and mind. I am very grateful for the opportunity to play drums in whatever setting, and I hope to be able to do so forever."

Mario and Luigi's gang just got a little greener.

At long last, Yoshi has hatched into the cinematic world of the Super Mario Bros., popping up for the first time in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

The latest trailer for the big-screen sequel reveals the green dinosaur joining the adventure as Mario (Chris Pratt), Luigi (Charlie Day), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), and Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) trek through galaxies to save the day.

After The Super Mario Bros. Movie teased the character's appearance with a post-credits scene showing his polka-dotted egg cracking, the new trailer signals that Yoshi will have a substantial role in the upcoming sequel.

The trailer sees Mario and Luigi discovering Yoshi in a cave, and just a few scenes later the dino teams up with Toad to defend baby Mario and baby Luigi from danger. Elsewhere, Mario and Peach navigate deadly traps in Bowser's castle, Luigi dons his Frog Suit, and Yoshi wields a Super Scope 6.

Yoshi's first appearance in the Mario franchise came with the 1990 release of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System classic Super Mario World. He has since become a staple, serving as a rideable mount and giving players access to new abilities. Yoshi's first standalone game, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, came in 1995.

The franchise's first theatrical installment, 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie, earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide. It followed brother plumbers Mario and Luigi from Brooklyn through a portal to a magical world where they must help Princess Peach save the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser (Jack Black). The forthcoming sequel, which promises "new galaxies and new friends," sees the return of directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, screenwriter Matthew Fogel, and composer Brian Tyler.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hits theaters on April 1, 2026. Watch the full trailer for it above.

Given his success with the Buffalo Bills, it might come as a surprise that Sean McDermott hasn't been mentioned for any of the vacant head-coaching jobs around the league. That might be by design, as McDermott is reportedly "likely" to take a year off of coaching, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

While McDermott's plans are unclear, the people he's talked to have reportedly told McDermott it was "beneficial" and "worth it" to take a year off following a long coaching stint with a team, per Rapoport.

The Insiders on @NFLGameDay with @TomPelissero and @MikeGarafolo: The latest on the #Browns search, plus the #Packers hired Jonathan Gannon; The #Ravens OC plans; Why Sean McDermott may take a year off and Philip Rivers could replace him in Buffalo. pic.twitter.com/QmxUxP35d7

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 25, 2026

McDermott's track record should have made him one of the more desirable head coaches on the market. In nine seasons with the Bills, McDermott led the team to a 98-50 record, making the playoffs in eight of those seasons. He reached the AFC championship twice, where he fell to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs both times.

But McDermott's firing came at an awkward time in the coaching cycle. Both John Harbaugh and Kevin Stefanski were already off the market, going to the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons, respectively. The same day McDermott was fired, the Miami Dolphins filled their opening with Jeff Hafley. Twenty-four hours later, the Tennessee Titans agreed to a deal with Robert Saleh. McDermott didn't have a shot at any of those jobs.

While the Baltimore Ravens' job was still open — and among the more desirable landing spots for McDermott — it didn't stay that way for long. Three days after McDermott was fired, the team named Jesse Minter as its next head coach.

As of Sunday, only four jobs remain open. The Bills remain the most desirable landing spot, though McDermott isn't going back there. The three other options include the Las Vegas Raiders, Cleveland Browns and the Arizona Cardinals. All three teams look to be in desperate need of a rebuild, and it's unclear whether McDermott wants to take that on at this point. He's been successful enough over his career that he could wait a season and see if a more desirable landing spot opens up. McDermott would likely be among the biggest names on the market if he chose to take a year off and interview for jobs again next offseason.

Given the state of the teams still looking for a new head coach, that might be McDermott's best play at this point. By sitting out a year, McDermott should have his pick of the head-coaching jobs next offseason. And he could wind up with a team in a much better position to win games compared to the options on the table right now.

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Aston Villa kept up its unlikely Premier League title challenge with a 2-0 win against Newcastle on Sunday.

Emiliano Buendia and Ollie Watkins scored in each half at St James' Park to move third-place Villa level on points with Manchester City in second on 46 points.

Buendia fired Villa ahead with a dipping shot from outside of the area in the 19th minute and Watkins doubled the lead in the 88th.

Villa has not won the title since 1981 and seven years ago was playing in the second tier Championship. But under coach Unai Emery, the Midlands club has been transformed.

And it is firmly in the race for the title after its 13th win in its last 16 league games. City is ahead of Villa on goal difference after a 2-0 win against last-place Wolves on Saturday.

Rosenior's Chelsea win again

Chelsea is also going in the right direction under new coach Liam Rosenior. Goals from Estevao, Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez sealed a 3-1 at Crystal Palace.

Rosenior has won four of his five games in charge in all competitions, with two of those coming in the league.

Forest eases relegation worries

At the bottom of the standings Nottingham Forest picked up a crucial 2-0 win at Brentford to reopen a five-point gap to the relegation zone.

West Ham's 3-1 win against Sunderland on Saturday saw the London club move to within two points of 17th-place Forest. But an unlikely win for Forest at high-flying Brentford boosted its survival chances.

Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi got the goals in each half for Sean Dyche's team.
