As Disney World races toward the grand reopening of Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster, the park is offering an look at the beloved attraction — including a peek at the world's first audio-animatronic Muppets.
On Friday, May 15, park officials released photos showing updates made to the Hollywood Studios ride's exterior facade. The improvements include psychedelic paint jobs added to the attraction's iconic guitar and car marquees. But arguably the most exciting teaser came from inside the interior queue.
As guests embark on a VIP tour of G-Force Records, they'll be welcomed inside a recording studio where members of The Electric Mayhem band are rocking out. Riders will be fully immersed in the story as an audio-animatronic of Scooter attempts to convince the band to stop jamming and leave to make their concert on time.

To bring Scooter to life, Walt Disney Imagineering used motion-capture technology of the actual adorable Muppet to emulate his movements. Through recording and tracking Scooter's performance, Imagineers could build and program a figure that looks, moves and emotes exactly like Scooter should.

But that's not all, as Scooter will be joined by a team of lovable audio engineer penguins behind the studio's sound board, also in animatronic form.

Ahead of the attraction's May 26 opening, the park is also giving the exterior courtyard a refresh.
At Rock Around the Shop, the store will feature a mix of apparel, accessories and souvenirs that capture the irreverent energy of the ride. A new food stand, FØØD by Swedish Chef, will be serving up tasty treats inspired by The Electric Mayhem, like a Churro Drumstick and Wocka Wocking Nachos.

On the ride itself, guests will be jamming out to one of five selections from The Electric Mayhem's extensive catalog including “Song 2,” “Born to Be Wild” featuring Camilla the Chicken, “Love Rollercoaster” with Jennifer Hudson and Questlove, “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” accompanied by Def Leppard and “Walking on Sunshine” with Kelly Clarkson.
The retheming of the roller coaster is even catching the attention of the Muppets' A-list fans. Throughout the queue, guests will find celebrity cameos woven throughout the experience. Keep your eyes open to catch Awkwafina, Danny Trejo, Darren Criss, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Travis Barker, Yvette Nicole Brown, Wayne Brady and “Weird Al” Yankovic.

The look comes more than two months after Disney closed the original version of the attraction, Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, on March 1.
The roller coaster first opened in 1999 and featured a 125-speaker, 14-subwoofer, 32,000-watt audio system that played Aerosmith hits like “Walk This Way,” “Back in the Saddle,” and “Love in an Elevator” rewritten as “Love in a Roller Coaster.”
Park officials were quick to begin revamping the ride, as evidenced by removing all remnants of the real-life rock band one day after closing the attraction. Its final day of operation saw lines to ride wrapping around the park.
